Pupils enjoy attending this harmonious and inclusive school. They feel a deep sense of belonging. The pastoral support that staff provide is a significant strength. Pupils know that staff care about them, which helps them to feel safe. They flourish in this nurturing environment. This enables them to achieve well, alongside their peers, as reflected in pupils’ success in public examinations.

Curriculum

At the end of Year 8, pupils choose their options for Year 9 and transition during that year to GCSE courses in core and optional subjects [1][2]. Dance is offered within the curriculum, and the performing arts programme introduces key works from the GCSE anthology, including Christopher Bruce’s Shadows, Itzik Galili’s A Linha Curva and Kenrick H2O Sandy’s Emancipation of Expressionism [3]. In food preparation and nutrition, Year 11 pupils undertake a Food Science Investigation Task, a Food Preparation Practical Task and Exam, and a written examination that together form the GCSE assessment [4].
